The Pixel Trade is a photographic project by Shantanu Starick, to try and reach all 7 continents of the globe without spending a cent of money on anything in the process.
By trading his services as a professional photographer he has reached 6 continents, several times. He has photographed for sheep farmers & wineries in New Zealand, fashion designers & social media companies in New York City, architects, chefs, restaurants, and most other industries you can possibly think of all over the world.
The project began with a very simple goal in mind, I wanted to see if it was possible to get to all seven continents without using a cent of money. If I could achieve this, I thought it might be challenging enough to show people that living without money could be done on a global scale instead of seeing it as something that can only happen in a localised environment.
That’s how it started but the ideologies have shifted since then. The discovery of a new working culture that changes the perspective of what we value and how we interact has emerged. The goal now is to show people a different kind of working culture to integrate into their current one, a culture which increases a side of interaction with people that I feel money represses unintentionally.
With the 7th continent and final trade just around the corner, Shantanu will be giving a very intimate and personal talk about his journey and what he has discovered as a result of this unique project.
