SATURDAY SOURDOUGH 12 – 2pm
The Saturday Sourdough classes are an introductory class to home sourdough bread making.
Hosted by Manchán Magan, these classes share with you the basics of sourdough home-baking, suitable for those who need a helping hand to get going with their sourdough baking at home. What you can expect from the class:
- notes on sourdough bread making to take home with you
- get a feel for a fermented dough and do a couple of folds
- a few tasters of different types of sourdough
- Making a starter / mother: how to kill your mother and bring her back to life
We will make a sourdough starter/mother together in this class so please bring your own jar.
Should you not have anything suitable we will have Kilner jars for sale on the day.

Manchán Magan is an Irish Language enthusiast, broadcaster and documentary maker who has been baking two loaves a week for the last three years. He is not a professional baker but is looking forward to sharing all he knows about bread making at home. In 2018 he toured his show ‘Arán & Im’, a performance which explores the connections between the Irish language and sourdough bread making.
