- Vinegar 19 August
August 19, 2017
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
3RD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
Apple Cider Vinegar was the starting point for us, on our journey into the world of ferments. It was like the gateway drug to fermentation, an easy introduction to the world of beneficial bacteria and delicious funky liquids and vegetables.
Apple Cider Vinegar should not just be looked at as a kitchen condiment. It is an ancient healing tonic, an immune booster and home to a vast colony of beneficial bacteria. And it is so, so, so easy to make yourselves.
This short class will show you how to make your own Apple Cider Vinegar, providing you with the four things that you need – apples, sugar, water and mother. You just need to bring a jar. A one litre kilner / mason jar is ideal.
We will also taste and show you our own selection of vinegars and other ferments that we use in the Fumbally Kitchen*. And you will be given some notes and recipes of things to do with your vinegar once it is ready, such as immune boosting tonics, uses in cooking and home care healing tips.
WHAT YOU GET TO TAKE HOME
– notes on vinegar making
– your own apple cider vinegar with mother
*We’ve been making all our own vinegars in the fumbally cafe for nearly two years and have become completely self sufficient in vinegar for our kitchen. All steming from the basic Apple Cider Vinegar recipe.
