Fumbally chef turned baker, Shane Palmer spent a year in San Francisco developing his baking while working in some of the worlds finest Bakeries. Since returning he has set up the hugely popular Scéal bakery that specialises in sourdough breads and had crafted pastries.
He will be hosting an interactive, introductory workshop on all things sourdough in the Stables Kitchen. As well as learning all about flour, fermentation and helpful habit of bread baking, the workshop includes a seasonal dinner and plenty of take home mother culture to get you started. additionally each participant will have the opportunity to bake their own brilliant bread at home.
Shane will show you how to fit into the rhythm of regular bread making and enjoy the simple but rewarding pleasures that come from this time honoured tradition. This is the type of bread nourishes the soul in so many ways and through an understanding of fermentation you will soon be turning 3 of the simplest ingredients into real fresh bread.
The ticket price includes the light dinner, Recipe, routine and take-home sourdough mother culture. Places are limited, additional tools and equipment will be available to purchase. Crock pots are advised for home bakes but not essential.
Each participant are required to bring a medium to small sized plastic mixing bowl and a tea towel that they don’t mind getting flour on, this is to transfer your lovely loaf home where it will sleep in the fridge until the next day when it is time to bake. Please bring an apron as it will be a hands on affair with plenty flour flying.
